May 2009 Daytime Book Club
Are you interested in joining a daytime book club? Join us on Thursday, May 14th at 10am at Café Le Saint Michel to discuss The Professor and the Madman. We will also be choosing books so bring a few to recommend as well as your calendar for future dates. Please bring money to buy your own coffee and croissants. Join us on Tuesday, May 19th for a tour of the new Médiathèque André Malraux. We will be meeting at 9:30 in the café on the main floor. This event is free so please bring additional money if you would like a coffee before we begin. The tour will start at 10:00. There will be a time afterwards to sign up for a library card for 25!. Please bring a standard passport size photo and recent utility bill to qualify. We welcome all, including those with small children and non-AIA members. The Médiathèque is located on the river in front of Rivetoile and CineCite. If you are interested in joining us please RSVP to Kathleen no later than Friday, May 15th.
May 2009 Annual Evening with the US Consul General
Please join us on Wednesday, May 20th. We are pleased to invite all AIA members to an evening with our U.S. Consul General, Mr. Vincent Carver. Mr. Carver has also invited the Chief of American Citizen Services in Paris, Mr. David Brizee. Each will provide an overview of their roles & responsibilities and then they will open up the discussion for questions & comments from the audience. This is a high security event and passports will be required for admission. May 2009 Europa Park
Come join us for a fun-filled day at Europa Park on Sunday May 17th.The park has rides and games for ALL ages from the very smallest adventurer to the dare devil adult. It is located just 40 mintues from Strasbourg in Rust Germany and we will caravan and carpool to get to the park. May 2009 Ramstein Air Base Tour
American Military Base Visit, Ramstein, Germany May 8.As May 8 is a bank holiday in France, Americans in Alsace will be coordinating a trip to the American military base in Ramstein, Germany. We will be carpooling to the base, so don’t worry if you don’t have a car. Please be sure to read the important information below and to sign up, please contact Katie by April 23rd.
An access list with all passport information will be required. (You will be contacted for this information after you sign up.) There will not be an opportunity to make purchases on the base. We will be escorted while on base and therefore must all stay together as a group for the duration of the visit. More information will be sent to members who sign up. This event is NOT recommended for young children. As the base is quite large, AIA will hire a bus to transport us around inside the base. We will leave our cars at the entrance and board the bus to pass through the entrance gates. The bus will enter the gates at 10.30. You will need to leave Strasbourg by 8.00 am at the latest to arrive at the base on time. You must be on the bus when it enters the base at 10.30, or you will not be permitted to enter the base.

Continue on Route Alfred Kastler (D468) to Route de Neuof
